‘Transformers 3’ Victim

Chicago Injury Lawyer Files Lawsuit for ‘Transformers 3’ Victim

The family of the ‘Transformers 3’ extra who was injured during a stunt gone awry has filed a negligence lawsuit against Paramount and Dreamworks Studios. Gabriella Cedillo was working as an extra when a tow cable being used for a stunt broke free and struck her vehicle, smashing the windshield and ultimately hitting the young woman in the head. As a result of the injury, Cedillo has sustained permanent brain damage and is paralyzed on one side of her body, unable to walk or speak. She is able to mouth words and write short notes.

The lawsuit, filed on the family’s behalf by a Chicago injury lawyer, alleges negligence on the part of the studio due to:
– Poor Craftmanship: The welding connecting the chain to the stunt car was done poorly and improperly.
– Lack of Training: Dozens of extras with no stunt training were driving their own vehicles on set as part of the scene.
– Risk Not Disclosed: According to Cedillo’s Chicago injury lawyer, the extras were not notified of any risks associated with filming the scene.

Paramount has issued the following statement: “We are all terribly sorry that this accident occurred. Our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with Gabriela, her family and loved ones. The production will continue to provide all the help we can to Gabriela and her family during this difficult time.”

Cedillo’s family is seeking unspecified damages over $50,000 as compensation for her traumatic brain injury and paralysis. The young woman continues to be in the care of medical professionals and require assistance provided by the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Her prognosis is uncertain. Most likely the family, with the help of their Chicago injury lawyer, are hoping to offset the costs of this lengthy medical stay with a favorable outcome from their lawsuit.

Traumatic brain injuries can be catastrophic, resulting in cognitived deficits, impaired speech and language, vision and hearing problems, paralysis, chronic pain, emotional problems, depression and even death. If you or a loved one has sustained a traumatic brain injury or other injury as a result of negligence, speak with a Chicago injury lawyer.
