Chicago Cab Hits Building; 1 Dead, 2 Injured

Around 8:45 am today, a Chicago area car accident occurred when a cab seemingly lost control and struck a parking garage. According to a Chicago Tribune report earlier this morning “Alex Perrin, 23, said he was walking to work at the Chicago Tribune when he saw the Checker cab “going fast” down Illinois. It appeared to cut off another cab, then swerved out of control and hit a man standing on the sidewalk on the north side of Illinois, he said.”

The driver of the cab was able to get out of the vehicle on his own, although it appeared he had sustained injuries. A woman, the passenger, was extricated from the vehicle with the help of paramedics on the scene. There appeared to be a body on the ground covered with a sheet while the emergency response teams worked to free the passenger.

Fire officials confirmed that two injured parties were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious to critical condition and that one person was dead on the scene.

This incident occurs on the heels of another Chicago car accident fatality in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a bus. The driver in that incident was under the influence.

It appears too early to tell what caused the driver in this incident to lose control of his motor vehicle and strike the pedestrian.

Chicago car accident attorneys caution pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings at all times due to freak accidents such as this one. If you or a loved one have been hurt or killed due to a Chicago car accident, you should seek professional legal advice right away.
