Louisiana Worker Sues Over Alleged Workplace Forklift Injuries

Employees in any industry should be able to expect safe conditions at their workplace. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, and some industries are more predisposed to having on-the-job incidents than others. For instance, construction workers and factory employees are typically at a higher risk of being hurt while they’re at work than the average officer worker. Such was the case with Yancy J. Landry, a Louisiana man who has filed a lawsuit against Energy Logistics Inc., after allegedly being injured at work.

The Case

Landry alleges that when he transported a shipment to the Energy Logistics Inc. dock, a forklift operator unstrapped a jack and knocked a pipe onto his foot, injuring him. He says that after that incident, he sought treatment at an emergency room for injuries to his right foot, and claims that the cause of his injuries was Energy Logistics Inc.’s failure to hire competent workers and equipment to unload the shipment he had transported there.

Energy Logistics Inc. is also accused of failing to follow safety procedures, failing to observe Landry’s whereabouts, and failing to provide a safe place to work. Landry is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for physical pain, mental pain and suffering, loss of life’s pleasures, loss of enjoyment, permanent disabilities, and loss of future earnings. No further details are currently available regarding the nature of Landry’s injuries.
