Chicago Motorcycle Accidents Due to Sudden Stops
Motorcyclists are 15 to 27 times more likely than motorists to die in traffic accidents, according to various sources including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Additionally, many accidents that would result in a fender-bender for a motorist will cause serious injuries to a motorcyclist. A motorcycle sudden stop accident, for example, can hurl a motorcyclist into oncoming traffic.
Sometimes life seems to hit you with multiple crises all at once, and at precisely the time when you are least able to deal with it all. After representing a multitude of motorcycle accident victims, we are familiar with your predicament and we are willing to go the extra mile to make sure that you can concentrate on recovering your health while we do all the hard work for you.

A Word From a Satisfied Client
“Two years ago, I was involved in a trucking accident involving a 14-wheeler truck that nearly disabled me for life. Steve fought to make sure that I received the most possible compensation for my injuries. I was about to take the insurance company’s lowball offer, but decided to call Steve first – it was the best decision I’ve made yet.” – Malman Law Client

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What are some of the most common injuries that result from motorcycle sudden stop accidents?
Motorcyclists are at far greater risk than motorists in a sudden-stop accident. Some of the most common injuries are:
- Brain injury (especially if the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet)
- Spinal cord injuries
- Permanent disfigurement
- Bone fractures
If I was injured by a pizza delivery driver, can I win a claim against the employer for the driver's negligence?
Yes you can, at least if:
- the accident was completely or mostly the fault of the pizza delivery driver;
- the driver was on-duty and acting within the scope of his duties at the time of the accident; and
- the driver was an employee of the company – not an independent contractor.
Some pizza drivers and many taxi drivers and commercial truckers are independent contractors, not employees.
Can I sue the manufacturer if the accident was caused by a defect in the vehicle that stopped suddenly?
You can assert a claim against the manufacturer of a defective vehicle component under the Illinois products liability law. You will have a good case if you can prove that the component was defective and unreasonably dangerous, and that the defect actually caused the accident.
Will I lose my claim if I was lane splitting (sharing a lane with another vehicle) at the time of the accident?
Not necessarily, although lane-splitting will put you at a disadvantage because it is illegal under Illinois law. You can still try to prove that either (i) your lane-splitting was not negligent under the circumstances even though it was illegal, or (ii) lane-splitting did not cause the accident.
We Won’t Bill You Unless You Win
At Malman Law, we don’t lose very often. If we do, we take responsibility for it instead of billing our clients for pursuing a losing claim. If you don’t end up with compensation, you will never receive a bill from us. That means, of course, that you can afford to retain us regardless of your financial status. It’s the quality of your claim that matters to us, not the thickness of your wallet.
