Accidents Involving Hip Injuries

Most hip injuries are caused by slip and fall accidents, particularly among the elderly. In fact, each year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that slip and fall accidents cause more than one million injuries of all types in the United States. Another common cause of hip injuries is vehicle accidents. Unfortunately, hip injuries occur in several nasty varieties:

  • Broken hip: Broken hips are most common among elderly adults with osteoporosis. Even a minor fall can break the hip of an elderly victim, while young people generally require  strong impact.
  • Dislocation: Dislocation occurs when the ball of the femur slips out of the socket, causing great pain. This injury typically requires great force to produce.
  • “Snapping hip syndrome”: This condition, recognized by a snapping sensation in the hip, can happen due to athletic activities or certain occupations.
  • Bursitis: Bursitis is a type of swelling and inflammation that ordinarily results in a personal injury claim only in instances of medical malpractice (misdiagnosis, for example).
  • Labral tear: A labral tear is a tear in the cartilage of the hip that can occur in a slip and fall accident.

Don’t Trust the Insurance Company – Their Interests Are Adverse to Yours

Most hip injury claims are paid by private insurance companies whose sole purpose is to maximize profits. Since the more they pay on your claim, the lower their profits, their bag of negotiating tricks is always packed tighter than Santa’s toy bag on Christmas Eve. The good news is that we know all their tricks by heart, and we can handle the negotiating for you.
