Chicago’s Lower West Side Personal Injury Law Firm
Lower West Side truly is the heart of Chicago; it is also one of our favorite places to spend a weekend. The Halsted Street art district and the Pilsen Historic District are fine places to spend the afternoon, and when dinner time arrives Lower West Side offers the best Mexican food in town. Once we get back to the office, however, more serious matters await.
In 20 years of practice, nothing has impressed us more than the startling fragility of the human body. There are literally thousands of ways to get hurt. After representing over 15,000 clients, we are aware of the shock, pain, and distress that you are probably experiencing if you’ve been hurt. When the accident that injured you was someone else’s fault, justice is what you deserve, and you should settle for nothing less.
All Law Firms are Not Created Equal
Anyone who has passed the bar exam is entitled to practice personal injury law, even without experience. In addition to the inexperienced lawyers out there, many attorneys run “buffet” practices where they take on various kinds of cases from contract negotiations to personal injury claims. Not so at Malman Law. Personal injury law is the only kind of law we practice, as it has been for 20 years.
Most of Our Clients Receive Out-of-Court Settlements
If you were injured in an accident caused by someone else, you have a personal injury claim. Although turning that claim into cash sometimes requires a client to appear in court, 95 percent of the time it doesn’t. From the moment you retain us, we will be seeking an out-of-court resolution. Fortunately, defendants are generally reluctant to face us in court because of our stellar record of victory at trial.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is “Maximum Medical Improvement” (MMI)?
MMI is the point, certified by your physician, at which your condition has improved as much as it ever will. You may still be left with long-term disability, but at MMI it is not expected to improve any further. MMI is important for calculating estimated future medical expenses.
Can a minor initiate a lawsuit in Illinois?
No, not unless he is at least 18. It is his age at the time of the lawsuit that matters, not his age at the time of the injury. If necessary, a court will appoint a representative to file the lawsuit for the minor (usually a parent).
How can I win a dog bite claim?
The Illinois dog bite statute requires you to prove:
- the defendant is the dog’s owner or keeper;
- your injuries were caused by the bite;
- you did not provoke the dog; and
- you were not trespassing at the time of the attack.
You don’t have to prove that the dog owner was negligent to win.
What information should I prepare for my initial case consultation?
You should be prepared to tell your lawyer:
- The date and time of the accident.
- How the accident happened.
- Whether you have been contacted by an insurance company.
- Whether you have any pre-existing injuries.
We are likely to have other questions for you as well.
Yes, You Can Afford an Attorney
We win 95 percent of our clients’ cases. Because of our .950 batting average, we offer you free representation if we don’t win compensation for you. If you turn out to be among the 95 percent of our clients whose claims are successful, we still won’t charge you a dime until your money actually comes in. This policy allows you to afford an attorney regardless of whether you have financial resources.
