Doctors, Hospital Accused of Medical Negligence

When a child is injured in an attack they didn’t provoke, it hard for any parent to deal with. But when their injuries are worsened due to the negligence of a few doctors and the hospital itself, it is definitely time to hire a Chicago medical malpractice lawyer to represent your case and fight for your loved ones. Such is the case for the mother of a south suburban man who was attacked outside of a Mokena bar in 2009. Eric Bartels was left blind and paralyzed because of the attack and his mother filed a lawsuit in October 2012 on behalf of her disabled son.

Filed in Cook County Circuit Court, the lawsuit filed by Janet Bartels claims Silver Cross Hospital and Provena St. Joseph Medical Center did not properly communicate with first responders and delayed diagnosis and treatment. Both hospitals, which are Level II trauma centers, did not have a neurosurgeon on call 24 hours a day who could have been in the operating room within 60 minutes – which in fact is required by law. The communication errors include Silver Cross Hospital failing properly communicate with first responders and assess Bartels’ condition upon arrival and Provena St. Joseph for not properly communicating with the Staff at Silver Cross. The doctors are being accused of failing to recognize Bartels’ brain injuries: the suit seeks $200,000 in damages.

If you have a loved one who has suffered a similar situation you must contact a medical malpractice attorney in Illinois right away. The initial attack may be a lot for a family to bear, but if a hospital staff fails to properly communicate and their negligent actions result in worsened injuries or death you must bring the guilty parties to justice. Their failure to perform their job can turn a minor incident into a major one and the right Chicago medical malpractice lawyer will offer you a free consultation and get to work right away on your behalf. Time is of the essence and your medical bills can start piling up faster than you may think – call a medical malpractice attorney in Illinois as soon as possible.
