Early this morning, a two-car collision in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood sent seven people to the hospital and killed another. The crash, which took place at about 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Kimball and Fullerton, involved two sedans. The cars first collided with one another, before at least one of the cars crashed into a building on the intersection’s corner.
Though no cause of the crash has been reported yet, seven people were injured in the wreck, all adults. Two were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, two to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, two to Mount Sinai Hospital, and two to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The person described as being in “very critical” condition was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he later died. Three people had to be extricated from one of the vehicles.
Hernandez said an EMS Plan 1 and seven ambulances were called for the wreck. As late as 8 a.m., parts of the intersection were still closed to all traffic except CTA buses.

Car crashes such as these leave a lot of things to deal with in their wake. First and foremost, the medical bills and recuperation associated with serious injuries can be devastating to families, especially if they do not have adequate insurance. Additionally, the damage to both of these cars is extensive, and though it has not been reported if the cars will be drivable, the best guess based on simply looking at them is that they are totaled and will need to be replaced—another steep cost to those involved in the wreck.
When there are multiple things to deal with after a serious crash such as this one, it’s usually helpful to get a lawyer involved. Car accident lawyers know how to deal with insurance companies as well as all involved parties, and can work to get those who were injured the compensation they may be entitled to, whether that means being reimbursed for the damage their vehicles sustained, getting help with their medical bills or lost wages, or anything else related to the crash. Getting legal help makes it much easier to navigate the complexities of car accident aftermath.

2 years ago I was involved in a trucking accident involving a 14-wheeler truck that nearly disabled me for life. Steve fought to make sure that I received the most possible compensation for my injuries. I was about to take the insurance company’s lowball offer, but decided to call Steve first – it was the best decision I’ve made yet
