A nursing aide has been accused of raping a 68-year-old woman at the assisted living facility in which he worked. Nanic Aidasani, 42, of Yonkers, has been accused of raping a woman, whose name has not been disclosed at this time, at Manhattanville Health Care Center in the Bronx.
Another employee at the assisted living facility allegedly found Aidasani atop the woman at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning. She was then taken to a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Due to dementia, Aidasani is unable to discuss the incident. Her family is seeking assistance from nursing home lawyers to ensure justice is served.
“We’re frustrated with the system. We have been through hell,” the victim’s daughter said in an interview with WABC.
When your loved ones are in the nursing home or assisted living facility, you assume they are being treated with dignity. Unfortunately, some employees may take advantage of their power by preying on those who cannot easily defend themselves.
In a study of 488 nursing home abuse cases, 8.8 percent of these cases were sexual in nature.
If you notice your loved ones are having a difficult time sitting or walking, have stained or bloody sheets or clothing, or have unexplained bleeding, report your observations to the nursing home administrator or the police if you believe an investigation is necessary. If you see your loved ones become increasingly nervous or anxious when a particular staff member enters the room, you may also want to report this, too.
You may also want to contact a nursing home attorney to help you best identify the signs of sexual abuse.
Your loved ones deserve to be treated with respect at all times when in a nursing home or assisted living facility and should never experience any kind of abuse, including sexual abuse. They should feel safe and secure, not threatened.
Because sexual abuse may not be as easy to identify as physical abuse, like cuts or bruises, you may need to talk to your loved ones to determine if they may be being abused.
Patients who cannot speak especially need assistance with proper legal representation so their case can be heard. If you suspect your loved ones are being sexually abused in the nursing home or assisted living facility in Illinois, contact a nursing home attorney.

2 years ago I was involved in a trucking accident involving a 14-wheeler truck that nearly disabled me for life. Steve fought to make sure that I received the most possible compensation for my injuries. I was about to take the insurance company’s lowball offer, but decided to call Steve first – it was the best decision I’ve made yet
