Champaign County Nursing Home
Recent Medicare reports show that Champaign County Nursing Home earned a rating of “much below average,” resulting from inspection reports. The health inspection rating was “much below average” while the staffing rating was “below average,” which both resulted in the “much below average” overall rating. Deficiencies in some areas such as resident care and fire safety were responsible for the determination of every rating.
Deficiencies in Residents’ Care
The Nursing Home Reform Act of 1987 was put into effect so all nursing home residents have access to the same rights as they would if they were living on their own. They deserve as much respect those living in unassisted environments, and if they are being mistreated or neglected in any way, an elder care attorney can be there to reverse this experience and help them get the necessary compensation.
In the Medicare inspections, Champaign County Nursing Home was discovered to have been insufficient in providing medical social services to residents as well as extra assistance to those that needed help with hygiene or food consumption. . Nutritional diets were also found not to have been provided.
Fire System Problems
The Medicare report found that, along with neglect and improper treatment of residents, this nursing home’s fire safety was faulty in certain areas. Smoke detectors were not consistently maintained, generators were not inspected and tested regularly, and an emergency evacuation plan was not written.
Any time nursing home residents are put in immediate jeopardy, compensation is available in helping end the situation and prevent it from happening to others. No nursing home should allow abuse and neglect to take place, and nursing home abuse lawyers will be sure to keep them from doing so.
