Highways and roads in Chicago, IL grow more and more crowded each year with commuters and travelers. With such congestion, auto accidents are an unavoidable reality and the frequency of such accidents increases annually. Even with better laws and insurance coverage, a car accident will sometimes cause injury as a result of someone else’s carelessness or impairment.
Some auto insurance carriers work under an assumption that unless an accident victim is killed or seriously maimed, a car accident injury case is not valid. A car injury lawyer at Malman Law understands these realities and is committed to getting you the compensation you’re entitled to as a result of an auto accident in Chicago, IL.
Since 1994, we have handled more than 1,000 car accident cases in Illinois and have experience with a range of car accident injuries, including broken bones, spinal cord injuries, internal injuries, burns, and bruises. Most people have at some point driven while using a cell phone. However, data offered by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society may make you rethink your actions.
According to a recent study, cell phones have caused more than 2,600 auto crash-related fatalities and over 330,000 auto crash-related injuries. Research indicates that the usage of cell phones dramatically slows down reaction time and reflexes.
Although talking on your cell phone is more socially permissible than drunk driving, the risk factors are similar if not higher. Research has repeatedly proven that there’s only a slight difference in terms of attentiveness.Request A Free Consultation

However, “el” trains, commuter railroads and buses can be hazardous places. Of course, the city and transportation companies make every effort to ensure the safety of all passengers, but high speeds, derailment accidents, and sudden stops can all result in serious injuries and even fatalities.

Dealing with car accidents that have caused you injury is stressful. You’ll have to wrangle with insurance providers and fight for compensation for things like medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, damages, and physical therapy, and that’s when you and the driver who hit you both have insurance. This can be even worse if the person who hit you is underinsured or has no insurance at all. Then what do you do? Can you expect to be awarded compensation when there’s no insurance company backing them, or are you stuck with paying out of your own pocket for injuries they caused, wages they caused you to lose, and the time you need to recover?

The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman and Associates, P.C. secured a large settlement in this case, in which a father of five tragically died when his tire treads failed, causing his vehicle to roll over. Our team investigated the crash carefully and pieced together a convincing argument that the manufacturer of the tire should be held liable for the damages sustained. In addition to the driver, two other passengers died in the accident. A fourth passenger was rendered quadriplegic by the crash. $11,800,000.00 was the total settlement.
Steven J. Malman obtained a large settlement of behalf of a pedestrian who was struck standing on the side of the road while his semi-tractor trailer was being repaired. Our client suffered multiple broken bones which required surgery and a lengthy recovery including extensive physical therapy. While our client was released back to work, we were able to establish that his pain and suffering warranted such a recovery.
In this case, we were able to prove that the driver of a van was responsible for the death of a bicyclist even though our client and the driver of the van were deceased. Through careful investigation and examination, the insurance company agreed that our client had the right of way at the intersection and the deceased van driver was at fault. Our client left a husband and two adult children.
In this matter, Steven J. Malman represented a hemophiliac who had suffered soft tissue injury to his finger as a result of an auto accident. Our client took medication for years after the accident to control the bleeding in his finger and avoid further complications. We demonstrated that our client had experienced severe and ongoing discomfort and obtained a settlement of $1 million in this auto accident case – an amount that represented the limits of the insurance.
