Laurel Martinez joined Malman Law in 2021 as an associate attorney. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as associate attorney with a subspecialty in litigation technologies for a civil defense firm in Chicago, where she defended commercial clients on premise liability, general negligence, commercial auto, and construction negligence cases.
Laurel earned her Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law where she was President of the Hispanic-Latino Law Student Association, a member of the College’s nationally ranked Trial Team, and received multiple awards, including being inducted to the Bar and Gavel Society, an award to students who display outstanding service to the school as selected by their peers. After being admitted to the Bar in 2017, Laurel went on to be a litigation technologies consultant with Groundwork Trial Consulting, where she participated in approximately 150 trials in various roles within the trial team. She is an active member of the Chicago Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, and the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago. Additionally, Laurel volunteers with the Diversity Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises scholarship funds for diverse students within the 7th Circuit.
A native of Western Pennsylvania, Laurel enjoys returning to her hometown to spend time with her family. Laurel is an enthusiastic home cook. She loves learning about new dishes to try and is obsessed with yoga and cross stitch.
