Attorney Melanie B. Eck earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 2014. 2017, she earned her Juris Doctor at DePaul University College of Law in 2020 and her Family Law Certificate. While attending law school, in addition to making the Dean’s List for multiple consecutive semesters, Melanie was invited to join as a staffer and then voted to become the Executive Editor of the DePaul Law Review for Volumes 68 & 69, respectively, and she recently wrote and published her own scholarly law review article in 2022: Alimony, Alimony Payin’ Your Bills: Rethinking the Termination of Maintenance for Cohabitating Under Illinois Law, 70 DePaul L. Also, while attending law school, Melanie served as a Committee Member for the DePaul Law Review Symposium Committee for Volume 69, and she was invited to join the Moot Court Society at DePaul University College of Law. Melanie was Vice President and Treasurer for the Veterans Advocacy Student Organization (VASO), which focused their efforts on providing legal help to Chicagoan veterans in addition to fundraising for the Honor Flight Program, which pays for Korean War Veterans to fly and see their memorial in Washington D.C. Also, while attending law school, Melanie was awarded the CALI Award for Excellence for her legal research and writing courses for earning the highest grade in her class, for which she also eventually was asked to assist as the teaching assistant the following semesters. Melanie also spent her time at law school as a research assistant for one of her law school professors, working on a law review article focused on healthcare reform and the law.

During her practice of law, Melanie has litigated Family Law cases ranging from your typical W-2 worker to high-net-worth clientele with marital estates reaching as high as seventy million dollars ($70,000,000.00) worth of assets, for example, and litigated matters such as divorce, child custody/support, Hague Convention cases, Orders of Protection, maintenance, irrevocable trusts, and property disposition—to name a few. Melanie now happily practices in Illinois Workers’ Compensation cases and is dedicated to providing each of her clients with the attention and dedication they deserve during the pendency of their workers’ compensation cases.

Born and raised in the Southside of Chicago, Melanie still lives in the Southside suburbs of Chicago. Melanie enjoys playing video games, watching horror movies, and baking when not working.
